Lighting of the San Elizario Church
In 2016, Jason my husband planned to light the church pink for me and be sneaky about it. Unfortunately, he was swamped that day, so it didn't happen. Later on the next day, Jason explained what he had wanted to do. I was in tears, so we decided to light the church pink in honor of all the women and all those who have lost their battle and not just for me.
When the sun went down on the evening of September 30, 2017, in San Elizario, hope shined the brightest. During the Luminaria Ceremony and the Lighting of the San Elceario Church, hundreds of luminarias will light along with the San Elceario Church, to light the track or path to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has taken too much. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight. With the help of our community, we were able to light the San Eliceario Church and it looked beautiful.
